Dear Students,

Do you want to make an impact on campus? Do you want to see your ideas take shape here at Georgia Tech?

Buzzinga! is a competition to attract student driven solutions to address problems facing the GT campus and community at large. For our first year, we want to focus on campus spirit/culture and we hope to see a wide variety of solutions impacting everything from attendance at athletic events and mental health to increased Georgia Tech pride.

Buzzinga! enables our undergraduate and graduate students to form teams to solve the campus issue of the year (campus culture/spirit) and they can earn up to $10,000 in funding and assistance towards the implementation of their idea.  You come up with a solution, compete, win, implement, and make Georgia Tech better!

Applications opened on March 1st and will close on April 1st. Judging will be conducted by a panel of campus administrators, faculty, and students. Teams will be judged on a popular vote, feasibility, creativity, sustainability and campus reach.

The application is available at www.sga.gatech.edu/buzzinga .You are required to register to participate. Don't worry if you don't have your idea or team just yet, just go ahead and sign-up! If you are interested and don't have an idea or team, we will be providing opportunities for team placement.

Please feel free to contact Amit Khanduri (amit.khanduri2@gmail.com) or myself, Imran Momin (imomin3@gatech.edu) if you have any questions.

Thanks!

University of Oregon
Summer Program for Undergraduate Research
SPUR 2013

http://spur.uoregon.edu/

The program is a 10 week immersion into the life of a research scientist, including a closely mentored 10 week research project, regular lab meetings, seminar series, professional development and career workshops, research symposium and poster session, cultural and scientific enrichment activities, and recreational activities.

We aim to provide opportunities in research career training for undergraduates from groups under-represented in STEM fields, especially those with disadvantage, who may not otherwise have such opportunities.

Stipend, travel, and living expenses for visiting students are covered by the program.

Post-Baccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP)
Look at attachment for more information.
http://www.nigms.nih.gov/Training/PREP/

PREP awards encourage underrepresented minorities who hold a recent baccalaureate degree in a biomedically relevant science to pursue a research doctorate. PREP participants work as apprentice scientists in a preceptor's laboratory and participate in student development and education activities. This program is expected to strengthen the research skills and academic competitiveness of participants for pursuit of a graduate degree while also stimulating them to have an interest in addressing the health problems that disproportionately affect minorities and the medically underserved in the United States.
